Happy Easter, everyone! Despite the cool, rainy weather, it's been a very nice Easter for me. Zan and I attended the 8:30 service at church, got breakfast at Aroma's after, watched some t.v. with our cats, then he headed out to a read-through rehearsal and I finished watching Chocolat with Sphinx. And-- I'm packing for a trip to Philly to see Kay! 'Twill be a perfect way to start an April, I do declare! I am finally going to see the Liberty Bell!!!
Life is still up in the air. Thinking too far into the future kind of gives me anxiety attacks. I have a plan formulated, waiting to see what happens. Should know in a few weeks, I would imagine. If that plan falls through, I have a few other things in mind. The thing is, I can see how perfect the future could be, if things go right. I just... I just don't want to paint myself into a corner, career-wise. I like options. I think I'm going in the right direction to give myself options, if all works out. Sorry to be vague, it's just that, for me, the future is vague and can not be talked about in any certain terms. I suppose that's ultimately true for everyone, though. But it seems especially true for me right now. I would just like a little bit of certainty. I want to know where I'll be living come August. I don't think that's too much to ask for, really. :)
One thing I do know: I am going to start taking ballet again. I really, really want to do this. About a month ago I started looking into studios in the area that teach casual adult classes. If I end up hating it (though I don't think I will), I want to start doing yoga hardcore. I've taken a few yoga classes before, but nothing intensive. I really want to do something more intensive. So. No matter where I end up, or what I'm doing, I plan to start exercising not only my mind but also my body, because I feel like it's something I've been seriously neglecting for about four years.
And, tonight: Game of Thrones and popcorn with Zan!

Hashtag: Disney Magic
My mom and I traveled south recently to visit a potential grad school, and since we were already so close and we're annual passholders, we decided to go to Disney World. So, after a long day of meeting students and professors, attending classes, and exploring a new campus, we spontaneously got in the car and headed to Orlando. About an hour out, we called the resort to see if any rooms were available. They had one! We booked it, arrived very late, took our things to our room, and headed out to enjoy the Boardwalk at night . It was chilly, but beautiful. We got a slice of pizza and glass of sangria from the pizza counter, sat under some heat lamps, and enjoyed.
The first night at Disney is always the best. That happy feeling of returning home, looking out over the lake to the Yacht/Beach Club. I felt all of my stress just melt away. The next day was even better. The morning arrived cool and bright, and we headed to Epcot right away. We got fast-passes for "Soarin'", then rode the Finding Nemo ride at the Living Seas, and went to Turtle Talk with Crush where I witnessed one of the cutest little girls ever asking Crush a question. Then I admired the way they are really stepping up the head-ear (get it, like headgear?) designs. Love all the new ears! Steampunk Minnie, Ariel fascinator, classic Minnie, tiny villain hats!
Epcot is hosting it's annual Flower and Garden Festival, and this year they decided to add food kiosks like a mini-Food and Wine Festival! Once the World Showcase opened, we feasted for lunch! They had a stand selling violet-lemonade and Pineapple Dole Whips with spiced rum! We had a watermelon, feta, and arugula salad with an Orange Blossom pilsner. We had candied strawberries and a spring pancake with chicken and apple. We had lobster with asparagus. Then we had another Pineapple Dole Whip with rum :).
In the afternoon we walked to Hollywood Studios to ride "The Great Movie Ride," and we got vanilla cokes at Primetime Diner. Then back to Epcot for the evening to sample some sangria and pineapple margaritas at La Cava de Tequila. We also made some friends while there, and had a great conversation with a couple of people around my age from Northern Virginia. We finished the evening with a lovely meal at The Flying Fish-- I love their potato-crusted red snapper.
Yesterday we got up early and drove back home, and I'm very happy to be here, but that day in Disney may have been just what the doctor ordered!

An Update
I'm failing at March blogging apparently. I've been out of town for the past little-more-than a week. I'm going out of town again tomorrow afternoon. And then my computer died. It has been dying for months now, but I always managed to get it to start one.more.time. I think that's over. You can only take out the battery and blow on it like a Super Nintendo cartridge so many times. So I'm updating on an iPad, which just isn't as practical for blogging purposes.
In brief, I had a great time in Vegas-- though a week in Vegas is a long time. This week I'm going to visit the one grad school I got into to help me decide if I want to go there, or if I want to formulate a new life plan, or if I want to formulate a temporary plan, then reapply hoping to up the ante on the old life plan. So. That's confusing. And in general the last few days have been full of emotional upheaval about that and thus getting overly emotional about everything and feeling like life might be falling apart because things that seemed so solid seem so fragile sometimes, even if they aren't really. Sometimes they feel that way.
St. Patrick's Day was fun, though. A few of my friends throw a massive three-day party each year, so Zan and I went (for only a few hours) and had some good beer, corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, sodabread, met some new friends, and met up with some old friends. Then the two of us went for a walk down DoG Street at night and no one else was out and for a few hours all felt right with the world.

A Short Beach Trip
Got back last night from a short but sweet trip to the beach. On Sunday I picked up Kay and Brian in Richmond and we drove down to South Carolina. There was a brief panic after running over a glass bottle in a parking lot, but luckily we avoided flat tires, and arrived at "Downton Litchfield" (Litchfield Abbey?) around 8:00 Sunday night. Mike, Kelsey, Josh, Sara, and Jeff stood in the living room looking for all the world like a Downton Abbey greeting party and in the background Jurassic Park played (the scene with the "Welcome to Jurassic Park" music). Excellent.
In short order, we had sangria in our hands, baked spaghetti, garlic bread, and were regaled with tales of the night before when Kelsey had had nearly two bottles of wine and protested loudly that SHE WAS SHY. VERY INTROVERTED. We then commenced a game of "Cards Against Humanity." The best was when I had to decide whether Kayne's next album would involve him rapping over the sounds of "A sad fat dragon with no friends" or the sounds of "Firing a rifle while balls deep in a squealing hog." NB: Don't play this game if you're easily offended.
The next day I woke up early, as did Kay. We made tea, then sat in the little sunroom nook chatting. After a bit, we decided to go to the beach. Despite the freezing the weather, the beach looked beautiful. We walked a bit, but couldn't stay out too long. Half an hour later we returned to the beach house, made more tea, and recommenced to chatting in the sunroom nook.
It was a lazy day: I napped, we finished Jurassic Park, and I began to read The Pirates! In an Adventure with Communists by Gideon Defoe. I became interested in the books after seeing the film The Pirates! Band of Misfits shortly before Christmas. I had ordered Adventure with Communists thinking it a funny title, and oh goodness did this book deliver! I have never laughed so much in my life. I also read probably 1/3rd of the book aloud to the others at the beach (sorry guys, but it was just too hilarious to keep to myself!). Do yourself a favor: read these books!!!
That night we ate seafood. We went to a place called Nance's, which has delicious hushpuppies and honeybutter. I got lobster tails for my meal-- a bit of a splurge, but deserved, I think because-- I got my first (only?) graduate school acceptance! Visiting weekend comes later this month, so I shall visit and decide if I want to commit five+ years of my life to this program. But, it's very exciting to have gotten an offer. :)
I meant to stay at the beach for one more day, but the threat of snow in Virginia forced me to come home a day early... so I sadly missed a trip to the sculpture gardens and drunk grilling. Now, however, I am back home for a few days, resting up and packing pre-VEGAS!

Hello, March!
How did it become March so soon? I feel as if the New Year just started, but here we are, a day more than two months into it already. I'm happy to have made it through February, though. Soon, I hope, the weather will turn sunnier and warmer, and I will wear sundresses and new shoes.
But I never wrote the end of February. Zan and I celebrated three years with our traditional meal at a burger joint, and we went bowling (again). Kelsey and Mike came to visit. Kelsey, because she's amazing, ran a half-marathon. The four of us and Megan had an Oscar party, complete with dressing up. Two more rejections came. I went bowling (again again) and I think I'm actually getting the hang of it-- I have a new high score of 95! Zan flew to California for work, and I got bad news about Rhett's health... potentially in the early stages of kidney failure.
So, a mixed bag February. But man, we looked great at the Oscar party! (P.S-- That's the ridiculously sparkly dress that Kay and my mom talked me into getting at Mardi Gras.)
