Today, I felt the first stirrings of spring. The air held a promise and a memory, that feeling of a turning, newness and nostalgia. After seminar, in the last fading bits of daylight-- a touch of daylight still at six!-- I stood outside talking with my classmates and my fingers did not ache of cold. Amazing, what a bit of warmth and a bit of sunlight can do: I suddenly felt that all of my work was manageable, and that all of my efforts might not be in vain. A weight I didn't know I carried lifted. Though I know we're in for lower temperatures again next week, today the sun shone warmly and the cold did not bite so fiercely, and perhaps this winter will end after all.
