Pandas at the Zoo

This weekend, Zan and I went to the National Zoo!  It was the first time I'd ever visited this particular zoo, and-- despite having had a thing for giant pandas for the past four years-- I'd never seen one in real life.  This weekend remedied that! 

 

This weekend, I saw two pandas!  You can see Mei Xiang behind me, and just above my head is the baby, Bao Bao!  What an exciting day!  We also spent a considerable amount of time at the Great Cat section, watching sleeping tigers and sleepy lions, and we (well, I) got a little freaked out in the Invertebrate House (they had SPIDERS without glass between them and me!).  Next time, I want to spend more time visiting the elephants.  I love zoos with a conservation mission.
