Fields of pumpkins and gourds? Cider and fresh homemade donuts? Yes and yes. Today I went to a pumpkin patch! My amazing neighbors Dan and Katie invited me with them to pick out pumpkins! We went to a place about 40 minutes or so outside of town-- the farther we drove, the more the leaves had changed and even though it's not quit the foliage of the East Coast yet, it definitely savoured of fall. When we stepped out of the car, it
smelled like autumn. A folk band played songs while families enjoyed picking out pumpkins, drinking hot apple cider, haybale rides, and running through the maze.
Aww I had my first "smells of autumn" moment too yesterday. Lots of Halloween decorations up, too... just made me happy.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite smells from this time of the year is that one you get from jumping Into a pile of leaves. Yes, yes, raking get's you close and hiking closer still, but there's nothing quite like the full body stink of freshly heaped leaves.
ReplyDeleteHow many pumpkins did you end up getting? Do you carve them and/or make tasty treats. That last picture's pretty with all the different coloured orange pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! I'm glad you got a little bit of fall. =)
